We are now taking bookings for funded AND non-funded flu vaccines!

We are offering two different flu vaccines for each age group, which are outlined below.

Your doctor, Nurse Practitioner, or practice nurse can administer your preferred flu vaccine during your appointment if you are coming in to see them for something else.

Or, if you would like to book for the flu vaccine only, please call reception to schedule a time during our flu vaccine clinics.

If you are aged 11+ years then only a 5-minute appointment is needed; 15-minute appointments are needed for tamariki aged 10 years and younger. 

Aged 65 years and older 

There are two different flu vaccines for you to choose from:

INFLUVAC TETRA

  • "Standard" flu vaccine 

  • Funded for all people aged 65+ years - i.e. free 

  • Can be given from 1 April onwards, taking bookings now 

FLUAD QUAD

  • Contains MF59® Adjuvant, a substance that improves the effectiveness of the vaccine by helping your body to create more antibodies to fight the influenza virus, providing stronger and longer-lasting protection 

  • Costs $65.00 (not funded for anybody)

  • Can be given now, taking bookings now

Aged 6 months - 64 years old 

There are two different flu vaccines for you to choose from:

INFLUVAC TETRA

  • "Standard" flu vaccine 

  • Manufactured using standard egg-based production, which allows for a very close but not exact match to the four main strains of influenza circulating this season 

  • Funded (i.e. free) if you meet the eligibility criteria, see more below 

  • Costs $56.00 if you do not meet eligibility criteria 

  • Can be given from 1 April onwards, taking bookings now 

FLUCELVAX QUAD

  • Manufactured using cell-based technology, which is a newer production technology and allows for an exact match to the four main strains of influenza circulating this season

  • Up to 15% more effective in protecting you against influenza (compared to Influvac Tetra) 

  • Costs $61.00 (not funded for anybody) 

  • Can be given now, taking bookings now

Eligibility criteria for funded flu vaccine (Influvac Tetra) 

Influvac Tetra is funded (free) for:

  • All people aged 65+ years

  • People aged 6 months - 64 years who have health conditions that meet the eligibility criteria, see attached document for more details
