2024 New Year Updates

Ngā mihi o te tau hou / Greetings for the new year!

Staff Changes

New Practice Manager

We would like to give a warm welcome to Laura Fenton as our new sole practice manager.

For many years Robin Macandrew has been both practice manager and nurse here at the practice, and in recent years she has been gradually handing over management functions to Laura. Robin is now reducing to three days per week and will be working as a nurse and administrator while Laura takes on the full role of practice manager.

We want to thank Robin for all of her amazing mahi in her time here as practice manager and we are thrilled that she’s staying on with us as a nurse and administrator.

Laura will be a familiar face to many, having fulfilled various roles in the practice over her ten years of working here. Pre-Covid-19 Laura was the recipient of a Practice Managers and Administrators of New Zealand (PMAANZ) scholarship to study practice management, and she has studied and worked hard to learn the ropes of managing a practice. We’re excited to see that hard mahi pay off now as she steps into her new role.

New Staff

We would also like to give a warm welcome to two brand new members of staff: Shelley, who joined us in December 2023 as a receptionist, and Brandon, who has just completed his nursing studies and started with us as a registered nurse. Welcome aboard!

Nurse Prescriber / Nurse Practitioner Intern

A big congratulations to our nurse Jasper who has recently completed his studies to become a Nurse Prescriber! This means he has expanded his scope beyond the level of a Registered Nurse and is now able to prescribe certain medications and assist you with a wider range of concerns. Take a look at our Services page to see the full range of services Jasper can now offer as a Nurse Prescriber (under “Our Specialised Nurse Services”).

Jasper is continuing to expand his scope further and is now working towards becoming a Nurse Practitioner. As part of his Nurse Practitioner Training Program he may be sitting in on some of Dr Martin Harris’ consultations. If you are seeing Dr Harris, you may be asked if you are comfortable with Jasper sitting in for your appointment. This is completely optional and you are welcome to decline.

New Website

As you can see, our new website has gone live! We’re very excited about this. A fresh, clean, and up-to-date website was long overdue, and we’ve worked hard with our website designer to bring this one to life. We hope you find it to be much more user-friendly and engaging than our previous one. Please take the opportunity to have a look around our new site and see what it has to offer – including our About Us and Self-Help sections.

Thank you again for your support and patience

Many of you on ManageMyHealth are still experiencing issues with your test results and other information not uploading to the platform. We assure you we’re still constantly updating ManageMyHealth Support about this and letting them know the issues have not been resolved. Hopefully they will be able to figure out what’s causing this and get it sorted as soon as possible.

In the meantime, you can call reception to check if your doctor has filed your results yet. If they have been filed and the doctor has no comments for you, we can email a copy of your results to you at your request. If there is something abnormal in your results, then as always a nurse or your doctor will be in touch with you.

We would like to thank everyone for their ongoing patience as the issues with ManageMyHealth and also with our new Practice Management System and prescription system are continuing to be ironed out.
